Aspropyrgos is a Municipality which is located in the western part of the Attica region, about 20 km northwest of Athens and 3 km east of Eleusis.

In addition of main town, Aspropyrgos includes the settlements of ‘Gorytsa’ to the southwest, ‘Fousa’ and ‘Roupaki’ to the north and ‘Neoktista’ to the northeast. Suburb of ‘Laimos – Louzitania’ is located near the coast, a place of entertainment, walks and fun as far “Chalivourgiki” plant, in the neighboring Municipality of Eleusis.

Modern intercity trackage “Proastiakos” passes through the administrative boundaries of Aspropyrgos joining Athens and Corinth, alongside the modern road axis of Attiki Odos.

Except of Asporopyrgos coastal zone, on the territory of the municipality is established and operates occupied by extended industrial units, from the 1950’s. Two of the most important industries for the Greek economy operating in Aspropyrgos; are the largest greek refineries which belongs to “HELPE” S.A. (Hellenic Petroleum) and “Halyps” Cement plant which belongs to “Heidelberg Cement Group”.

Aspropyrgos’ local society characterized by multiculturalism, as a result of the area’s industrial development in combination with the major migratory waves, which have occurred during the last decades. Since domestic and foreign migrants establishment, population of the municipality has been progressively increasing, according to state inventory results.

According to the 1981 census the Municipality of Aspropyrgos included 12,541 residents, in 2011 there were 30,251 people living at Aspropyrgos. Most of them are employed in the industrial sector and services providing businesses. No more than 10% of the population are farmers.
