The Association of Municipalities for the Protection and Restoration of Penteliko Mountain (SPAP) was founded on February 5, 1992 and today consists of the following 12 Municipalities: Amaroussion, Vrilissia, Galatsi, Dionysos, Kifissia, Lykovrisi-Pefki, Marathon, Pallini, Penteli, Rafina-Pikermi, Spata-Artemis, Halandri.

Its purpose is to protect and restore the mountain environment, through the prevention, or disaster response, the restoration of every damage caused by fires, earthquakes, floods, snowfall, as well as the restoration of the damaged parts of the mountain. The Association is one of the Civil Protection bodies and assists all relevant state authorities while preventing or responding to any disastrous events at the Pentelikon Mountain or generally in Attica Region. For the fulfillment of its goals the Association possesses modern mechanical equipment. The aim of the Association is to contribute to the effort of delivering a better environment to the next generations, through its innovative actions aiming towards the restoration of the environment of Pentelikon Mountain.

Within 2018, the Association organized a series of actions and events with practical and experiential activities aimed at students of all levels so that Environmental Education and Training could become the awareness-raising body for the protection of the environment by tomorrowʼs active citizens.
