The Fo.D.S.A., the first and only Hellenic Solid Waste Management Association in Greece, is a leader for other waste management Associations around the country, with impressive results in the specialization

and management of goals and actions for the temporary storage, transshipment, processing, restoration and distribution of solid waste on a Regional level.

Its main responsibility is the operation and management of 11 Landfill Sites and 8 Waste Transshipment Stations that serve about 2 million citizens, as well as raising awareness regarding the reduction and correct management of municipal waste. With a modern outlook and effective action, within the framework of applying European policy and complying with our country’s commitments included in the new National Planning for Solid Waste Management, the Fo.D.S.A. is an effective intervention in the effort to create a modern Administrative Region that manages its municipal waste by taking full advantage of its natural resources both for the benefit of the community but also for regional growth. Every year, billions of euro are spent on waste collection, transportation and burial disposal. It is necessary to apply tried-and-tested methods that will allow us to conserve funds and create even more economic benefits. We envision a Region that, with the active and systematic participation of its citizens, will reduce its waste up to 50%. We hope to achieve this aim, while also providing effective solutions to our waste problems. With the operation of the HSWMA we have completed a managerial and financial tidying up, applying optimal solutions and materializing plans without any additional expense for the citizens. There is still much more work to be completed, on a systematic basis. And that is what we will continue to do with diligence and social responsibility. For a clean and humane Region, a precious heritage for our future generations.
