The Greek Scrap Metal Recyclersʼ Association was founded in 2008 in order to promote the use of proper methods of recycling metal waste, focusing on saving energy and protecting the environment.

The Association represents and defends the collective interests of Greek companies active in the collection, trade, processing and recycling of ferrous and non-ferrous metal scrap.

It represents more than 90 Greek companies in an industry with:
• More than 50 years of experience in collecting, transporting and processing metal scrap.
• Turnover: 650 million euros per year.
• Paid taxes: 40 million euros per year.
• More than 2,500 employees.

The Greek Scrap Metal Recyclersʼ Association aims at ensuring constant and permanent communication between its members and the Greek authorities and institutions: Ministry of Environment, Hellenic Recycling Agency, Alternative Waste Management Systems, Environmental Inspection.

It also represents its members in contacts and consultations with the Greek authorities, as well as with other commercial and industrial sectors. The Association makes sure that their views are expressed timely and clearly prior to decisions made on adopted policies.
